Larry, I don't know if you grew up on a farm or not, but I know that I did not and will not ever forget my roots.

Larry, were you removed from this site? If so, why? I hadn't seen anything naughty from you that would call for banning you :)

Chris, anyone who has a different opinion than Larry is a 'liberal' in his world. He calls me a liberal as well...even though there have been several things we actually agree on. But, all it takes is one differing opinion and you're branded for life. Let him think what he wants....you know where you stand and that's all that matters.

LOL Ok I'll get off the soap box...but the windmills aren't broken...Larry I knew you couldn't, but I dissagree with many liberal idea's and wouldn't want to be grouped into party or right or left.

Chris sounds like you need a soap box to stand on or is your ideological hopes and dreams doing the job. Come on Chris, while E85 is a step in the right direction we are still waiting on what direction we are going. There is no clear cut next generation fuel that is going to take over the oil company. Also, I would not point too many fingers at Larry, because clearly you have not done your research either. There are some serious air quality issues with E85 because of the toxins that are the result from Ethanol and Gasoline being mixed. Needless to say, when it comes to alternative energy we seem to not want to take a clear stance, ridicule the heck out of the big bad oil companies, and then just provide propaganda with no real plan of attack. I am not saying that I have the answer, but I would venture a guess that Nuclear power, cleaner burning coal, and high mileage vehicles are the way to go. Dill oil in the US, build Nuclear power plants, and keep burning that coal. Wind turbines don't seem to be the answer (at least the broken ones in Willmar).

Larry you posted earlier "E-85 is a joke just like global warming. Food should not go into the fuel tank, it should be used to feed the world. Oil, coal, nuclear, that is the fuel we need until a viable option is discovered." Now you post "My point is only that E-85 IS subsidized just like all the other farm programs." So what is your real gripe???? If you think for a minute the oil, coal and nuclear isn't subsidized by the government you are truly off you rocker. And please try really, really, really hard not to use "liberal" in your next post...it is getting old.

I think corn is a little inefficient, but we'd be smart to use what technology we have as a bridge to even better technology. Renewable energy is definitely the way to go...but it has to be efficient. The oil industry has it's hands in many pockets, but that will slowly change if we make it, which is what the ethanol industry is sort of doing. BTW, all you need is a threaded extension for your O2 sensor or a new palladium coil for your cat to keep that light from coming on;)

Larry, perhaps if you could do more than put a name label on someone that knows more than you or has researched into it alittle further than a newspaper clipping you would understand...but you can't. So I will put it into simple terms...E85 from corn is only a stepping stone. It is a technology that will lead to better and cheaper fuel, if it isn't killed by such simple and small thinking people as you. The car you drive was made to run on gasoline...it was the "feel good" attitude of GM and Ford that allowed it to run on E-85. I routinely run E-85 in my non-flex fuel car without any problems. Mixes approaching 50% E-85 and 50% gasoline are just fine...anything over will throw on the "service engine soon" light. Which is just from the computer saying the injectors are putting in more fuel than what they should. Now the only difference between my car and your flex fuel car is a small sensor that prevents this light. As I said in my earlier post, IF they make a engine to run exclusively on E-85 you could achieve mileage as good or better than gas. This is the goal we all need to work toward. America can't feed the world...and if you feel guilty start donating you extra change to a charity. By the way Larry...do you feel the same way about corn burning stoves? Why do everyone come to slam E-85? How much government tax dollars goes to subsidize big oil? How many lives are lost to wars over oil or oil rich areas? How many dollars are spend keeping the oil fields, tankers, workers and pipelines safe? Would you feel the same if that E-85 came from the garbage you throw out everyday Larry? I ask because it is all possible if we demand it and use it.
