Randy O, while I do agree with you that government shouldn't be "on the backs on business", there is some regulation that needs to take place. Government intervention is absolutely necessary at times, but to limits that the specific time requires. Without government intervention, the "market" would spiral our economy into another depression. At the same time, though, government needs to be regulated as to how much they intervene.

lynn - didn't those automakers ask for a bailout - aka taxpayer money? FYI - the government doesn't 'own' them....they are just making them live by a few rules. If they don't like the rules, they shouldn't have asked for bailout money. Nobody forced them to ask for it.

We definitely need to get government off of the backs of business. Business has the public's best interest at heart. Business doesn't need regulation, let the marketplace work it out. (bye, bye, Toyota!)

If I were to accuse the government of ambushing us at this time, it would be the health care plan they have on the table..

Yes Dar, the government "made" Toyota do this so that one day in the future, the government could use it to their advantage. Just like they drummed up H1N1, to throw you off of what is really going on. They are sneaky. I wonder what they have in the works to throw out their in the future to ambush us?

But remember, while Congress berates Toyota, they are taking eyes away from the government ineptness.

While everyone needs a little comeupance once in awhile, I hardly think our present crop in Congress is qualified to to the berating.
