Barack Obama and the Democrats are readying us for "the transition" to more government and a centrally-planned economy. If you don't believe me, just ask the Community Organizer. He himself back in 2007 explained this idea of a "transition" to a single-payer system in this country. Here are some quotes from Barack Obama: "It is my belief that not just politically but economically it is better for us to start getting a system in place, a universal healthcare system, signed into law by the end of my first term as president and build off that system to make it more rational ..." "By the way, Canada did not start off immediately with a single-payer system, they had a similar transition step ..." "Transitioning a system is a very difficult and costly and lengthy enterprise. It's not like you can turn on a switch and go from one system to another ..." "But I don't think that we are going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately, there's going to be potentially some transition process ..." Neal Boortz

gee joe I thought we were all in this together. The unions want every one to have HC but are unwilling to help pay for the program to help the uninsured who may be unemployed, or homeless or elderly or just can't afford self insurance. The unions are a bunch of selfish people with no fathers.

Joe sez The only real thing that worries me about health care reform is the degree of abuse that may go with it. Then Joe states that Gov. health care should be strictly monitored so that those who really are in need get to use the program Now of course Joe we who have lived on this rock a few Yr's. all know how alert the Gov. is at the first sign of chicanery or fraud, just like Clinton and Gores famous "lock Box" it is amazing to this pilgrim how so many folks can be taken down these paths again, and again. still believing the slanted words emanating from on high. really , really slow learners.

Gee Rick I didn't realize unions were obligated to pay employee health care? Unions represent the employees, and in turn employees pay monthly union dues. Why should any union holster any responsibility for employees health care, when the employer or the inurance company set the prices and the rules, unless that is part of the package deal? Being a former union representative that has never ever been brought up, and is somewhat obsurd, futher more, when contracts are negotiated the unions have no say on health inurance, and by law its either the company that chooses to carry it or the employee chooses to buy their own. The union could negotiate something to off set a higher insurance increase, by getting the company to give something else beneficial to the employees. Rick that is just like saying your vehicle inusurance company should be responsible for vehicle maintenace on your car. The only real thing that worries me about health care reform is the degree of abuse that is may go with it. Just like when the welfare program was introduced, and there were those paying for several hundred dollars of food with food stamps, then going to the liquor store and stocking up on beer, wine and whisky, then load it all in their Cadillac. Government health care should be strickly monitored so that those who really are in need get to use the program. I believe if anyone works no matter what they make there should be some type of monies that they will still have to pay without causing undo financial hardship on some family, and if my memory serves me well that was also in the plan. This should be based on their salary so the government gets some money back. The elderly should be excempt and receive goverment health care based on their illness, especially those over the age of 62, retired, and sruggling to get health care. Raising the retirement age, or the medicare coverage age, does not serve a good purpose, instead it hinders not only the people looking forward to 65, but it means the younger workers will have to wait that much longer until older workers retire. Then who is to say that retired workers at that age are not going to have health issues that require medication or many visits to their health care providers. A good deal of people can't retire and the most voiced concern, the cost of health care, and that is sad especially if you worked your whole life.

lynn w.....the problem is, many people are being given that car free to drive around, with out a real investment, of course they won't care about the strings that are attached to it. If this thing passes as it is currently being attempted, the laws of this country will mean nothing anymore........

Only 17 percent of American voters approve of how lawmakers on Capitol Hill are doing their jobs and, given the choice, half of all respondents in an NBC poll would vote to defeat their own representative and every single member of Congress. It's a striking finding revealing that a majority of Democrats are sour on their party even as it controls all three branches of government. The public also is sour on the nation’s direction. Nearly 6 in 10 believe the county is off on the wrong track, compared with 33 percent who think it’s headed in the right direction. And a combined 88 percent say they’ve been personally affected by the downturn in the economy "a great deal," "quite a bit" or "just some." "The memo is pretty simple — ‘Americans to Congress: You stink,’" says Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff. "The public is disgusted and unhappy," Hart told NBC. "To me, this is an exceptionally important story."
