Businesses that sell online but have stores in MN, DO collect sales tax like Cabellas and Amazon stores etc. MN sales tax is a mess. If you live outside the Willmar City limits and place an order at my store and you pick it up, you are taxed the .5%. If I mail it to you, there is no .5% tax charged. In MN candy that lists flour as an ingredient is not taxed, such as Twix, Kit Kat or Reeses stix and Licorice. If it need to be refrigerated its not candy, such as popsicles and ice cream bars. BUT soy and whey which come from other major crops are not exempt from sales taxes. It gets worse. Food generally is not taxable in MN but if prepared and sold it is. All street fair vendors such as brat or burger stands. Even the malt shops sales are taxable because they provide a straw and napkin. This is an election year. If you don't feel the state is being run correctly, VOTE.

You are suppose to report those online purchases and pay sales taxes on them. Just because you are not directly billed sales tax, does not mean you should not pay it. Are you saying by this post that you are not reporting these purchases?
