Joe, I know you love to play devils advocate on all issues, so lets just pretend that I said casinos are for the smart and rich......

No Greg its sometimes more, its a place to go for entertainment or to just plain get away. I know a couple of eldery people who go once a week and board the bus taking them to and from the casino. They eat there and play mostly slots, I don't view them as ignorant or poor just people who are looking for something to do. Of course we also have people other then the poor or ignorant playing at the casinos.

Not sure about looking the other way, i prefer to look all ways. Just saying things like casinos and lottery and such are simply taxes for people who are really bad at math. IE, the poor and the ignorant.

If you don't like Native Americans, look the other way--they're used to it.

If this isn't an expansion in gambling Ijust don't know. I perssoanly have never darkened the door to one of these places. I know that to some this can be addictive, but they will go anyway. Pass, build the Racino! Or close them ALL. The state needs the funds.

I am amazed the state has not taken on gambling other then the lottery. People are always going to gamble hoping to change their lives and pay off their bills. The truth of the matter is casino's are the only winners, the players don't stand much of a chance. Some people sit at the coin operated slots playing for hours, and they may go their three or four times a week. For some, especially the elderly, this becomes a form of entertainment, sort of like Bingo.

How can people keep the casino halls and hotel rooms of Prairie's Edge fully in use on a weekly basis when we're in a terrible recession? Perhaps we do need state-sponsored gambling, so more people can blow their hard-earned money.
