There is a savings Randy but not sure it is quite that much. Remember the bulk of the savings from 4 day week comes from transportation.

Leah, the 4-day week idea saves anywhere from $50K to $150K a year. Significant savings. MACCRAY passed that operating levy that you brought up by overwhelming margins. Leah, do you hear anyone selling the 4-day week idea with this argument "we won't have to pass operating levies if we implement this idea" ...........come on people, I have asked it before and I'll ask again, when a government body cuts spending - something we all beg for since we hate paying taxes - why do people whine about it? My curiosity is definitely piqued.

I remember hearing MACCRAY trying to pass an operating levy this past fall? Do I recall correctly? If so, then is four day week really saving their district a significant amount of money? It really boils down to is this going to benefit the students' learning? Leading to increase in test scores? When there is actual quanitative data showing an educational benefit to a four day week, then I'll reconsider my viewpoint on the issue.

A simple question, does the world revolve around parents with children who have Mon-Friday 8am-5pm jobs? Last I checked, many parents work nights or weekends and have to find daycare that day too. A-C-GC is simply trying to save money, how can we, a conservative society who hates paying taxes, criticize a government body for making necessary budget cuts??

I really do not care about what the Maccray district has done. My kids attend ACGC thats where my interests are. And as far as the vote on monday I dont think it's right that board members without children in school should be allowed to vote or even be on the board. This is not a place for education for children it seems to be a busines for administration.

Maccray seems to love the 4-day week. I'd talk to people over there for guidance.

I'm not sure if a <1% savings in the budget is really worth all the "hassle" a four day week would present. Also, I'm sure they've already spent what they would save (in a year) on time and research into the idea. And the online survey should be more direct - Yes/NO - so the board members can get a better idea of what the communities want.
