They`ll get their new stadium, soon or later. Get one now because the longer they wait the more it will cost.

OK Rick-hold on to your hat and be sure to be sitting down. I agree with you. I had a hard time with public money being used to build a stadium for the Twins, and they play 80 home games a year. The Vikings play 8. Plus, in Minnesota, you can't use the outdoor stadium for other things 7 months out of the year. It's not like the days of Metropolitan stadium where we could go to soccer games, baseball games, football games and concerts. I don't think a Vikings stadium would be used enough to justify the expense. People all over the country are learning to make do with what they have, rather than getting new stuff. Perhaps that should be the mantra.

Rick can you tell me how much money the Vikings made in 2008? There is only two privately funded stadiums in the NFL (Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys). Those two teams charge $50 to park your car at the game and they make you sign long term contracts for season tickets. There is nobody in this state that will pay $100 for a ticket that now cost $22 in the current metrodome situation. I say the sports comission sells the metrodome and the land around the dome for $1. Let Ziggy do what he wants with it. You have to remember the vikings are not getting any suite revenue for anything now at the metrodome because all the other teams are out of the dome. Sounds like there will be huge jumps in ticket prices and concession prices starting in the 2010 year.

There are no threats in all of this. either the state builds it or the investor that owns the team will move them to where he can make money. If the people of this state are not going to support it then they will leave. The lawmakers of this state wont even come to the table and talk to the vikings. Sounds to me like they have their favorites. The vikings generate a huge tax roll to our state and without them we are going to have to find a way to make up that difference! build the stadium and if you want a roof on it than the state needs to pay for it. The gophers dont have a roof and they seem to be just fine without the roof.

They make enough, they can build their own dam* stadium. Put an entertainment tax on current ticket sales to pay for it. Let those who go and watch pay for their own stadium.

In case you didnt notice in yesterday's news, the MN. Department of Revenue is withholding business refunds tax for a period of time because they have no money. They are hoping the affected businesses won't notice or mind.

I did read, that once our NFL team is gone, we can't get them back., like we went from the north stars to the wilds. Sounds like a threat to me. Greenbay looks better and cheaper every day.

The LA Vikings? That would really suck. Give them a new stadium and keep them the Minnesota Vikings. What did it cost to get hockey back in MN?

There are many better and more needfull areas in which to spend our tax dollars. We don't need to spend it on a play ground for overpaid FB players and owners.
