An escape, for now

While Willmar avoided a blizzard that moved across southern Minnesota, enough snow fell Tuesday to make for slick road conditions, as seen heading south from the First Street bridge near Litchfield Avenue Southeast. While no exact numbers were available at press time, Willmar Police Sgt. Jim Felt said local law enforcement responded to a higher-than-average number of weather-related traffic incidents throughout the day. The National Weather Service is predicting a 60 percent chance of more snow today, though it’s likely strong winds could prove most hazardous. Gusts of up to 36 mph are possible.
