Crews with the Minnesota Department of Transportation remove the approach panel Monday on the Highway 71/23 bypass bridge over Civic Center Drive in north Willmar. Crews will remove the existing panel, which has developed a bump through settlement over the years, according to Greg Menson, MnDOT District 8 bridge supervisor. Workers will then repack the base and replace the panel so drivers will experience a smoother entry onto the bridge. Work is scheduled for completion Oct. 11, according to a previous Tribune report.
