GLENWOOD — Lester Meyer, 92, of Glenwood died Sunday at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
GLENWOOD — Lester Meyer, 92, of Glenwood died Sunday at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born May 17, 1917, in Lake Henry to Peter and Mary (Bauer) Meyer. He grew up on a farm in the Spring Hill area and attended country school.
He married L. Aljena Woodhall on Jan. 23, 1940. They lived in Grove Lake where they farmed. They then moved into Padua where they owned and operated the Padua Store. In 1958, they moved to Glenwood. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus
He is survived by his children: Linda (and Luis) Rubi of Minnetonka; Dean (and Bonnie) Meyer of Fargo, N.D., Joanne (and Ed) Welch, Jean (and Ben) Bailey and Larry Meyer, all of Glenwood; 25 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2000; daughter: Lori Conde in 2008; son: Charles in 1965; an infant daughter: Karen in 1948; four brothers; and four sisters.
