CLARKFIELD — Audrey Hill, 84, of Clarkfield, died Sunday at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital following a year-long struggle with mesothelioma.

CLARKFIELD — Audrey Hill, 84, of Clarkfield, died Sunday at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital following a year-long struggle with mesothelioma.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Clarkfield Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

She was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Clarkfield to Oscar and Ida (Lindquist) Melbostad. She graduated from Clarkfield Senior High School and moved to Minneapolis to attend the Minnesota School of Business.

She married Robert Hill on Sept. 9, 1950, in Clarkfield. Over the years, they lived in Minneapolis, Milwaukee, New York City, Peoria, Ill., Cleveland and Detroit before retiring to Clarkfield in 1990. She was active in the Lutheran Church wherever they lived, teaching children’s Sunday school and adult Bible studies. She was also active in Coral Ridge Evangelism, the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and Meals-on-Wheels. She was involved at Clarkfield Lutheran Church with WELCA, the quilting ministry and the prayer chain.

She is survived by her children: Robert Hill of Bay City, Mich., and Carolyn Aldridge of Kansas City, Mo.; and five granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.
