Frank Koubsky March 13, 1937 – Nov. 3, 2009

LOWRY — Frank G. Koubsky, 72, of Lowry, died Tuesday at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.

LOWRY — Frank G. Koubsky, 72, of Lowry, died Tuesday at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lowry. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

He was born March 13, 1937, on the family farm in rural Glenwood to Joseph and Antonia (Pronek) Koubsky. He grew up on the farm, graduating from Glenwood High School. He served in the U.S. Army for two years starting in 1955. 

He married Elaine Helen Schultz on Dec. 28, 1959, in rural Lowry. They lived in Lowry. He drove school bus from 1958 to 1963. He had a service station and auto dealership in Lowry from 1972 to 1983 and then began trucking, which he continued to do until his death. 

He was a volunteer fireman in Lowry for many years, including serving as chief. He was a longtime member of the local Lions Club and he and Elaine were recently named Lowry’s Citizens of the Year. He was a lifetime member of St. John Nepomuk and a member of the church choir. In his earlier years he had performed in a barbershop quartet.

He is survived by his wife; six children: John (and Diane) Koubsky of Clear Lake, Kathy (and Scott) Lee of Barrett, Deb (and Deron) Stamp of Prior Lake, Tim (and Nancy) Koubsky of Glenwood, Frankie (and Susan) Koubsky of Orono and Sharon (and Mike) Goettsch of Glenwood; 15 grandchildren; three sisters: Mary (and Richard) Kaminski of Richfield, Lill Koubsky of Glenwood and Antonia “Babe” Koubsky of Glenwood; and two brothers: Joe (and Janet) Koubsky of Glenwood, and George (and Karen) Koubsky of Glenwood.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
