Letter: Thank you for the music

Did you happen to attend any of the many musical events at Willmar schools over the past years?

Perhaps you were at the 2007 production of "Les Miserables" where there was not a dry eye left in the house; or 2008's "Beauty and the Beast" where children and adults alike left feeling enchanted; or an elementary school songfest; or a high school Christmas concert where the musicians and audience members end the evening by singing "Silent Night"; or caught the pep band at a basketball game; or maybe the 2005 junior high production of "Fiddler on the Roof" where you had to remind yourself that "these are seventh and eighth graders!"

Or any of the seasonal high school concerts where you could not help but get up out of your chair and clap, sing and move to the music. From early elementary years where interest, skills and discipline are developed to junior and senior high years where incredible talent is showcased, the Willmar music staff and programs are dedicated to giving our students every opportunity to be musically involved.

Thank you, Willmar music directors and staff, for many years of musical enjoyment. By the way, the marching season is under way and you can catch the WHS Cardinal marching band in a town near you! Check their Web site at
