Letter: Tell constituents the truth

On Aug. 23, Greg David (R-Preston), chairman of the House Tax Committee, came to Willmar ostensibly to explain the new property tax provisions in the recently formulated state budget.

Instead he lied to our local city and county officials about who is responsible for the changes. These changes are expected to dramatically increase property taxes for local homeowners. They are part of a budget written and passed by a Republican-controlled House and Senate.

Sen. Joe Gimse and Rep. Bruce Vogel should repudiate the false statements made by their colleague. They need to take responsibility for the Republican budget that they themselves voted for. In short, they should be responsible for telling their constituents the truth.
