Letter: Don't let schools fall behind
The students in the Willmar Public School system are not just competing with others in this state or nation but with other students around the world.
With over 25 years of teaching in international schools overseas, I know the competition and it is very tough. Students in other countries consistently beat our levels of achievement in math and science and a few even do so in the English language.
Continued underfunding of our schools will cause us to fall further behind. I don't like being second, fifth, 10th or lower in any academic area.
I hope that you don't either and you plan to vote for the renewal of the school operating levy on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
