Women's Fund to award grants

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Area Community Foundation announces that the Willmar Women's Fund will award $4,300 in grants early this fall.

The Women's Fund was established in 2008 as a component of the Willmar Area Community Foundation with the mission to support programs that provide access to lives of economic and social strength for women and girls.

The fund seeks to leverage the efforts and dollars from local nonprofits to provide resources that will make a difference to single individuals or systems. The fund awarded its first two grants of $2,500 each in 2008 to Ridgewater College and Shelter House.

Recipients since then have been Heartland Community Action Agency, DEMO Inc., and the Child Guide Program of the Willmar Public Schools.

Applications for this grant round are due July 25 and will be accepted from organizations that address an issue confronting teenage girls in Kandiyohi County or underserved women age 55 and older.

The Willmar Area Community Foundation uses an online grant application process.

The grant guidelines and electronic application can be found at and clicking on the "WACF Grants" link.
