WILLMAR — Celebrate Art! Celebrate Coffee! is celebrating it's 20th anniversary this weekend, with all planned outdoor events now being moved to Kennedy Elementary School in Willmar.
Kicking off the celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday is a reception honoring the past poster artists, longtime sponsors and founders Nancy Geiger, Raeanna Gislason and Jamin Johnson at The Barn Theatre in downtown Willmar.
Saturday the celebration will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the juried artist tents at Kennedy Elementary School in Willmar.
The first 1,500 to stop by the Arts Council information booth will receive a free gift bag and can register for themed door prizes.
There will also be a free photo booth in the lobby of Bethel Church until 3 p.m.
Post photos of an activity or a selfie at Celebrate Art! Celebrate Coffee! between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #CelebrateArt17 for a chance to win $100.
The Fifth Street stage will have a new group performing every hour, at Kennedy Elementary. There will be demonstrations and hands-on activities for kids and adults on the courthouse lawn.
The "emerging artist" tent will feature artists identified by their art teachers or mentors as promising artists. The artists this year are Grace Figueroa-Ghent, Grace Davis and David Cairns.
The event is a chance for artists and the public to mingle, shop and experience the many faces of art, from photography, handmade jewelry and pottery to music and food.
There is free coffee at the "Coffee Café" throughout the day and vendors will be selling a variety of food.
The raffle features original pieces of work from four artists: Shalese Sands, Ron Larson, Janet Olney and Phyllis Joos.
All outdoor events have been moved to Kennedy Elementary School, 824 Seventh St. S.W., Willmar.
