Update on flag-burning,

police working with video

WILLMAR — Willmar Police are working with the video footage, which was enhanced by the State Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, in the flag-burning case reported earlier this month in downtown Willmar.

According to Police Chief David Wyffels, the video does show a white man, likely in his late 20s, committing the property damage and arson crime.

The police believe they have identified a suspect and are continuing to work on the case, Wyffels said.

The two incidents happened June 1 at Kitchen Fair, along the 300 block of Fifth Street Southwest, and at the Midas Auto station, along the 700 block of Litchfield Avenue Southwest. The video footage was recorded just after 1 a.m. that morning and the incidents were reported as the owners and managers of the businesses discovered the damage later that morning.
