Willmar man wins $250K Lottery prize

WILLMAR — Wayne Nelson of Willmar won $250,000 by playing the Minnesota State Lottery Silver & Gold scratch game.

According to a news release from the Minnesota State Lottery, Nelson bought the winning ticket at Casey’s General Store, 1021 19th Ave. S.W. in Willmar.

Nelson claimed the prize Monday at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville.

Silver & Gold is a $10 scratch game that offers a $250,000 top prize. Overall odds of winning a prize by playing Silver & Gold are 1 in 3.39. There are currently two of three $250,000 prizes remaining.

According to the news release. the Minnesota State Lottery since 1990 has raised more than $2.2 billion for state programs. The general fund has received more than $1.3 billion to help fund functions such as education, public safety, and health and human services. Environmental programs have received more than $875 million.
