Willmar slips past Marshall
WILLMAR -- A sweep at doubles gave Willmar a 3-0 lead, and Andrea Brown's win at 1-singles pushed the Cardinals to a 4-3 victory over Marshall Tuesday in a non-conference tennis match at the high school.
Marshall (9-8-1) used its talented singles line-up to pull back to 3-2. It looked like they might tie it up after Rachel Kunde tripped up Brown in the first set 6-4. The Willmar senior answered 6-4 and at 1-1 in the third set took over to win five straight games and seal the victory.
The doubles teams of Leslie Marcus-Allie Ellingson, Brittin Dahle-Eva Rodelius and Hayley Thompson-Emily Kack all won in straight set for the Cardinals.
Willmar (5-6) takes to the road to take on Little Falls in anothr Central Lakes Conference match Thursday.
