BOLD ousted by Tracy-Milroy-Balaton

REDWOOD FALLS - Tracy-Milroy-Balaton got one step closer to returning to the Xcel Energy Center after the Panthers upended BOLD 21-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-20 in the Section 3AA-North final Thursday.

TMB, the defending state champion, faces Pipestone in the section final Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.

Senior outside hitter Missy Benson hammered down five kills in the first game for BOLD before the taller Panthers limited her to eight over the next three games.

BOLD ended the first game on a 6-1 run after Benson tied the game at 20 with a kill. Junior middle hitter Leah Miller ended the opener with a kill down the middle.

The Panthers were out in front for most of the second game. BOLD owned a late 23-21 lead before TMB scored the game's next three points. The Panthers then made a hitting error to allow BOLD to tie it at 24, but the Warriors then made two errors to give TMB the match.

Miller and Vogt both had 10 kills, while junior outside hitter Breanna Keltgen followed with eight for the Warriors. Miller also finished with a match-high four ace blocks.
