REDWOOD FALLS -- Amanda "Mandy" Nieland, 18, of Redwood Falls died Sunday at the Redwood Area Hospital, as the result of a snowmobile accident.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. A private family burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.
She was born Sept. 1, 1987, in Redwood Falls to Jim and Joni Nieland. She attended Redwood Falls Public Schools and graduated in 2005. She was a member of the speech team, the Rocket Club, and participated at state competition in the Envirothon. She was a student at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D., where she was majoring in chemistry. She worked as a CNA at Sunwood Good Samaritan Center in Redwood Falls.
She is survived by her parents of Redwood Falls; siblings: Joshua of Ames, Iowa, Nicole of Redwood Falls; grandmothers: Jo Krager of Sioux Falls, S.D., Mary Nieland of Fargo, N.D.; and great-grandmother: Phyllis Friman of Hurley, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather: Karl Nieland; and great-grandfather: Gene Friman.
