Funding for government lapses as short-term spending bill stalls in the Senate

BELVIEW -- Rolf Edwin Omtvedt, 62, of Belview died Thursday at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.

The service will be at 2 p.m Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview. Burial will be at the Belview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

He was born May 24, 1944, in Echo to Rolf and Ruth (Wells) Omtvedt. He graduated from Belview High School in 1962 and attended Minnesota Business College in Minneapolis.

He married Janice Beavers on June 29, 1963, in Belview. They lived in the Belview area and worked in the family business in the Belview and Renville areas until its closing.

He was a member of the Belview Fire and Ambulance Departments for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife; children: Todd (and Becky) Omtvedt of Alexandria, Tammy (and Dean) Parrott of Dell Rapids, S.D., Ingrid (and Mark) Bavier of Zimmerman, Heidi (and Brad) Galstad of Alexandria, Marit (and Khalid) Ziadi of Hopkins; 10 grandchildren; and three siblings: Marjorie Stutelburg of Willmar, Karen (and Ron) Donner of Clarkfield, and Jeff (and Mary) Erickson of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother: Bea Omtvedt; one grandson; son-in-law: Charles Whitworth; one brother and one sister.
