DAWSON -- Norman L. "Ole" Olson, 80, of Dawson died Tuesday at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Dawson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a closing prayer service at 7, at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

He was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Dawson to Martin and Clara Tonetta (Hjelsen) Olson. He attended Dawson schools through the eighth grade. He served in the military during the Korean Conflict and received an honorable medical discharge due to his hearing loss.

He married to Marlys Howard on Oct. 29, 1955, in Appleton. They lived in Dawson, where he worked in the dray business with Obert Oman and Ervin Thompson. In 1969, he started Olson Dray and bought his first truck in 1972. He officially retired at 62 years old but continued working until 2000, when his health began to limit him. He had entered the Clarkfield Care Center on Oct. 11, 2007.

He is survived by his children: Jeff Olson of Dawson, Gail Horton of Clark, Mo., Janice Olson of Dawson and Daniel Olson of Granite Falls; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister: Selma Kahnk of Montevideo.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
