District Court, Kandiyohi County. Jan. 4

n Rueben Coronado, 27, of Willmar, was sentenced Wednesday to five years of probation and a $1,000 fine for a fifth-degree controlled substance crime.

He was ordered to serve 86 days in jail as a condition of his stayed sentence, with credit for 86 days already served. He was also ordered to consume no alcohol or drugs, submit to random testing and cooperate with a chemical dependency evaluation.

The charge was filed after Willmar police arrested Coronado on an active warrant on Sept. 15. After he was transported to the jail, he handed over a baggie with a clear white crystal substance and told the jailer it was methamphetamine. He also stated that he didn't remember it was in his wallet. The substance tested positive as meth.

- Luis Alonso Alberto-Zambrano, 24, of Willmar, received a stayed sentence Thursday for aggravated forgery. He was ordered to serve three years of probation, serve 114 days in jail, pay a $50 fine and cooperate with the federal Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Alberto-Zambrano, who is also know as Edwin Concepcion-Cuadrado, was also ordered to serve two years of probation, pay a $3,000 fine on each of two convictions of giving a court official the name or date of birth of another, which is a gross misdemeanor. A total of $2,950 of each fine was stayed. He will be allowed to do community service to pay the fines.

As part of a plea agreement reached Nov. 30, three additional felony charges for aggravated forgery and forgery, plus another gross misdemeanor for giving the name or date of birth of another, were dismissed.

The charges were filed after Willmar police were notified in October by agents from the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement that a man in the county jail under the Cuadrado name was actually Zambrano, a Honduran national.

Court records indicated that the man had made three court appearances under the Cuadrado name. He also obtained employment at Jennie-O Turkey Store using an identification bearing the Cuadrado name.
