Waconia Superintendent Kjergaard is among Brainerd's final two
WILLMAR -- Willmar superintendent candidate Jerry Kjergaard has made the final two list in the Brainerd School District's search for its next superintendent.
Waconia Superintendent Kjergaard and Brainerd Assistant Superintendent Steve Razidlo were named the two finalists Saturday by the Brainerd School Board.
The board conducted one-hour interviews Saturday with its remaining four finalists -- Kjergaard, Razidlo, Brainerd Community Education Director Todd Lyscio and John Longtin, former Mendota Heights superintendent, the Brainerd Dispatch reported Saturday.
The Brainerd School Board is scheduled to meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday to decide whether to offer its superintendent position to Kjergaard or Razidlo, according to the Dispatch.
Kjergaard is scheduled Thursday to be in Willmar for a second interview for the local superintendent position.
The other two Willmar candidates returning for a second interview are Mountain Lake Superintendent Bill Strom on Tuesday and Mahnomen Superintendent Jon Kringen on Wednesday.
Kjergaard was also one of three finalists in February for the superintendent position in New Prague School. He was not chosen for that position.
Kringen was one of five finalists in March for the superintendent position in Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton School District. He did not get that position.
Willmar hopes to have a new superintendent by July 1. Superintendent Kathy Leedom will retire July 31.
