North Carolina residents hurt in crash south of Benson

BENSON - Two people were hurt in a one-vehicle rollover crash around 1:50 a.m. Thursday four miles south of Benson on state Highway 29.

According to the State Patrol, Evelyn N. Stevens, 41, of Leland, N.C., was driving a 1990 GMC southbound, swerved to avoid an object in the road, ran partially into the west ditch and then crossed over into the east ditch and rolled onto the vehicle its roof. She sustained minor injuries and was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

Her passenger, Robin L. West, 39, also of Leland, N.C., sustained head trauma. He is hospitalized in critical condition at North Memorial.

The Swift County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
