DAWSON -- Delbert "Swede" Larson, 88, of Dawson died Jan. 21 at his son's home in Apple Valley, Calif.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church in rural Dawson. Burial will be in the Dawson Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are by Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

He was born July 13, 1919, in Dawson to Albert and Tillie (Oman) Larson. He served in the National Guard. In 1941, he moved to San Diego, Calif.

He married Helen Knigge in 1942. He worked for the Arden Farms dairy processing plant for 23 years as plant foreman, then at the Carnation dairy plant for eight years. They moved to El Camino Pines Church Camp in Frazier Park, Calif., where they worked for the Tejon Ranch Company, he doing facility work and Helen as executive chef. They retired in Arizona for a few years before returning to Dawson.

He is survived by his wife; two sons: David (and Carol) of Carlsbad, Calif., and Robert (and Caroline) of Apple Valley, Calif.; a daughter: Nanci Painter (and Steve) of Dawson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two sisters: Clarice Knigge and Arlys (and Virgil) Amundson of Dawson; and brothers: Dean of San Diego, Calif., Virgil (and JoAnn) of Bradenton, Fla., and Sheldon (and Jane) of Minnetonka.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
