BENSON -- Lyle E. Himley, 88, of Benson, died Sunday at Golden Living Center in Benson.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Swift County Hospice and Swift County Benson Hospital Foundation.

He was born April 6, 1920, in the Province of Throne, Alberta, Canada, to Christian Sven Christenson and Ida Louise (Rear) Himley. He grew up in the Montevideo area and attended school through junior high. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946.

He married Marion Theodora Swanson on June 18, 1943, at Camp Wolters, Texas. They farmed in Swenoda Township of Swift County for 33 years. They moved to Lake Minnewaska by Glenwood in 1982, and in 1998 they moved to Benson.

He was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church and Farmers Union.

He is survived by his wife; children: Ann Hawley of Benson, Lee (and Susan) Himley of Benson, and Susan (and Philip) Johnson of Virginia; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
