WILLMAR -- A 19-year-old woman who had been beaten up by her boyfriend was found standing in the street Saturday afternoon by an individual who came to her aid. The woman was bleeding from her mouth and above her eye.

She was found around 4 p.m. in the 1400 block of Gorton Avenue Northwest.

The suspect, a 23-year old St. Paul man, was located and arrested at 10:12 p.m. Saturday in Willmar.


SPICER -- A 66-year-old Spicer man was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Saturday on Green Lake Boulevard on alcohol-related charges after the vehicle he was driving collided with another vehicle being driven by a couple from Lester Prairie. There were no injuries reported.

WILLMAR -- A juvenile female was injured in a two-vehicle accident Saturday night at Seventh Street Southwest and Benson Avenue. A van and a pickup collided in a rear-end accident that was reported at 9 p.m. by the driver of the van, who had taken his daughter to the hospital. The name of the victim was not available. There were no citations issued.

'MacGyver' bombs

WILLMAR -- What was described as a homemade "MacGyver" bomb was thrown near the McDonald's restaurant Friday evening. According to the police report, the device was thrown from a light-colored sedan carrying "three males with no shirts and two females with shirts on." The incident was reported at 8:48 p.m. at 717 S. First St. The homemade bomb was recovered by police.

ATWATER -- A bottle with cleaner fluid and tin foil was thrown at Schmidty's gas station and convenience store, 309 W. Pleasant Ave. The incident was reported at 7:12 p.m. Friday.


WILLMAR -- The Green Mill Restaurant and Bar, 2100 U.S. Highway 12 E., reported the theft of a large flower planter that occurred Feb. 1. Authorities were given video and names of suspects.

WILLMAR -- Little Dukes convenience store, 1300 Fifth St. S.E., told police that a customer took $74 after a self check-out machine malfunctioned Friday evening. The woman, who was later located, said the money came out of the machine when she attempted to complete the purchase and she pushed the continue button. She admitted she took the money and turned it over to authorities.

According to the initial police report, the store agreed not to press charges because the machine malfunctioned and the money was returned.

WILLMAR -- An 18-year-old Dawson woman was cited for shoplifting at 4:40 p.m. Friday at Cub Foods.

WILLMAR -- A cellular phone valued at $716 was reported stolen at 7:32 p.m. Friday from Verizon Wireless, 525 S. First St. According to the preliminary police report, two men were in the store, distracted the employee, and took the Verizon HTC Touch Pro Smartphone.

WILLMAR -- A 22-year-old woman was cited for shoplifting at Gerry's Liquor, 810 Litchfield Ave. S.W.


WILLMAR -- A home in the 1000 block of Second Street Southeast was burglarized, with items stolen and damaged. Attempted arson was also noted by police when the incident was reported Friday night. Suspects have been identified.

WILLMAR -- A flat-screen television and Wii were reported stolen from a home in the 700 block of Second Street Southwest. The incident was reported at 1:30 a.m. Saturday.


WILLMAR -- Three tires were slashed and a window smashed on a vehicle in the 600 block of 13th Street Southwest. The incident was reported at 8:07 a.m. Sunday.

WILLMAR -- The window of a vehicle was damaged when someone attempted to break into the car. The incident was reported at 10 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of 13th Street Southwest.

Underage consumption

WILLMAR -- A 20-year-old Glencoe man was cited Friday night for misrepresenting his age while trying to purchase alcohol at a Willmar restaurant and bar. The man was reportedly using his military identification card to purchase drinks.

WILLMAR -- Five individuals were cited for underage consumption at 10:30 p.m. Friday at a party in the 1300 block of 24th Street Northwest. The individuals were 18 and 19 years old.

WILLMAR -- Five individuals were cited for underage consumption at 4:47 p.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of 24th Street Northwest.

Suspicious person

PENNOCK -- A Pennock resident told authorities she suspected her neighbors had tried to break into her home through a window to steal hot chocolate. The incident was reported at 5:18 a.m. Saturday.


WILLMAR -- Two inmates in the Kandiyohi County Jail got into a fight Friday night in a dispute over lining up for the canteen. Since the fight was mutual, both agreed not to press charges.

Dog do-do is no-no

WILLMAR -- A Willmar man was warned by police not to allow his dog to defecate on a neighbor's lawn or he would be in violation of city ordinance and face a citation. A woman in the 900 block of Campbell Avenue Northwest told police the man continually allowed his dog to defecate on her yard while he was walking the dog past her home.
