GRANITE FALLS -- Two motorists were treated and released Monday from Granite Falls Municipal Hospital after a car accident east of Granite Falls at the intersection of U.S. Highway 212 and state Highway 23.

Li Hungchun, 41, of Rosemead, Calif., and Michael D. Nelson, 55, of Balton were injured during the right-angle crash at the intersection around 2:15 p.m. Monday.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol report, Hungchun was driving an unidentified truck south on Highway 23 while Nelson was driving a 2001 Dodge Intrepid east on Highway 212 before the collision. The report also indicated that Nelson was extricated from his vehicle.

The Chippewa County and Yellow Medicine County sheriff's departments assisted at the scene of the crash.

WILLMAR -- Five people were taken by ambulance to Rice Memorial Hospital for treatment of possible injuries after a two-vehicle crash around 1 p.m. Saturday along 19th Avenue Southwest.

According to the crash report, William Edward Zimmer, 52, of Willmar, was driving a 1997 Plymouth Neon westbound on 19th and collided with a 1997 Chevy Venture driven by Royal D. Osterkamp, 53, of Willmar. Osterkamp, who was attempting a left-hand turn onto 19th from Seventh Street Southwest, was not hurt. A passenger, Janet A. Osterkamp, also escaped injury.

Four passengers in Zimmer's vehicle, including two children, suffered possible injuries and were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

WILLMAR -- A 21-year-old Blomkest woman was taken by ambulance to Rice Memorial Hospital after a 3:30 p.m. crash along U.S. Highway 71 on the south edge of Willmar.

According to the crash report, Angela Jo Cain was driving a 2003 Hyundai south on Highway 71 and passing another vehicle when her vehicle struck a 2002 Jeep driven by John Paul Muller, 48, of Raymond. Muller was eastbound, crossing Highway 71 onto the State Highway 23 entrance ramp.

After the first crash, Cain's vehicle spun into a 1996 Chevy van driven by Jason Scott Blackwell, 35, of Kandiyohi and struck the van on the left side.

Neither of the other drivers, or a passenger in Muller's vehicle, was hurt in the crash.

Underage drinking

WILLMAR -- Three people were cited for underage consumption around 2:40 p.m. Monday along the 1100 block of 24th Street Northwest after police were called about loud people stomping their feet in an apartment building


SPICER -- The theft of wheels from a fish house was reported around 5:45 p.m. Sunday on Green Lake. The value of the rims, tires and the lug nuts was estimated at $160.
