ACGC school board looks at administrative options

GROVE CITY -- School board members heard four different options for restructuring the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City School District's administrative staff at a special meeting Tuesday.

None of the four proposals includes a full-time superintendent.

A committee has been looking at the district's long-term options for administration. The committee members outlined four different proposals at the meeting.

School board members are likely to select one of the four options at their regular meeting Monday, said Roger Rueckert, who is currently serving as the district's interim superintendent.

Board Chairwoman Judy Raske made it clear at the onset of Tuesday's meeting that no decisions would be made until board members have had time to consider the options, the superintendent added.

The options presented to board members carry different estimated costs, and call for different administrative team alignments. Three of the four call for a superintendent to hold additional part-time principal duties. The fourth calls for a 0.6-time superintendent position and keeps intact the current administrative structure.

The four proposals are as follows:

- Proposal A at an estimated cost of $417,129

Superintendent/grades 9-12 principal for 260 days; grades 5-8 principal/athletic director/child study coordinator for 235 days; early childhood-grade 4 elementary principal for 225 days; business manager for 260 days;

- Proposal B at an estimated cost of $371,162

Superintendent/part-time grades K-12 principal, 260 days; part-time grades early childhood-grade 12 principal/child study coordinator, 235 days; grades K-4 dean of students/part-time teacher/athletic director, 225 days; business manager, 260 days;

- Proposal C at an estimated cost of $378,622

Superintendent/principal for South Elementary and grades 9-12, 260 days; principal for North Elementary and grades 5-8/child study coordinator, 235 days; 0.5-time teacher/dean of students early childhood-grade 4/athletic director, 225 days; business manager, 260 days;

- Current positions at an estimated cost of $421,066

0.6 time superintendent, 156 days; grades 5-12 principal, 235 days; early childhood-grade 4 principal, 225 days; child study coordinator/athletic director/5-12 dean of students, 180 days; business manager, 260 days.
