Highway reconstruction could get jump start with federal funds
LAKE LILLIAN -- Federal stimulus funding could accelerate reconstruction of a 3.4-mile section of a county highway that stretches across the southern edge of Kandiyohi County and into Renville County.
The $2.5 million project on Kandiyohi County 2 and Renville County Road 16 is currently scheduled for 2010.
The project may be accelerated to this summer if the project qualifies for federal stimulus funding, according to the Kandiyohi County Public Works Department.
An informational meeting on the project will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the meeting room of the Lake Lillian Fire Hall.
The project, located southeast of Lake Lillian, begins 1.4 miles south of Kandiyohi County Road 77 and goes to State Highway 7. Part of the project includes straightening out "S" curves on the road near the border of the county lines.
The public will have an opportunity to review the proposed plan and ask questions regarding the project.
