No more cell phone

PENNOCK -- A 13-year-old rural Pennock girl called 911 Saturday night to complain that her father had taken away her cell phone.

According to the initial report, the father said the girl was told to forfeit her cell phone as punishment for hitting her younger brother.

The father told a Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputy that he talked to his daughter for 30 minutes, but she still refused to give up her phone. He then grabbed it from her.

The girl then used her father's cell phone to call her mother and 911.

She told the deputy that she wasn't afraid of her father but she "didn't like his rules" and didn't want to stay there.

Authorities determined no assault had taken place.
