Willmar School Board meets Monday
WILLMAR -- The Willmar School Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center, 611 Fifth St. S.W.
The board will listen to public comments related to items on the agenda at the beginning of the meeting. Those who want to comment on issues not on Monday's agenda may do so at the end of the meeting.
The board is scheduled to approve attendance area boundaries for Kennedy and Roosevelt elementary schools. The district is closing some of its smaller buildings and will operate just two elementary schools next school year. The boundary between the two areas runs roughly from the east side of Eagle Lake south along Highway 71 and First Street, then west along Willmar Avenue. Children living north and west of that line will attend Kennedy. Children living south and east of that line will attend Roosevelt.
The board will consider raising meal prices and changing the meal charging policy for the 2009-10 school year.
Topics listed for discussion include the art curriculum and the music curriculum, as well as adopting of several new or revised policies.
The agenda includes a recommendation to rescind a previous decision to la off several tenured teachers -- Jodi Ballandby, Andrea Fladeboe, Dale Yoakum, Megan Wiebe, Sara Squibb and Hannah Hanson.
The board will also discuss whether the district should accept private donations to support specific programs in the district.
