Hearing to refinance Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building is Tuesday

WILLMAR -- The Kandiyohi County Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to discuss the financial merits of refinancing the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building.

It's estimated the county could save $800,000 over seven years, pending market fluctuations.

When the building was constructed a decade ago, the county used certificates of participation issued by the Kandiyohi County Building Authority. If approved, those certificates would be replaced with general obligation capital improvement plan bonds.

The estimated $800,000 in savings would come in the form of reduced debt service. The hearing is part of the County Board's regular business meeting.

Other items on the agenda include letting bids for a liner for the landfill., a presentation on aquatic invasive species, a nuisance abatement hearing for Bryce Peters Financial Corp., recommendations for solid waste fees for Mike Potjer, action on conditional use permits, a construction agreement with New London Township and action to approve a grant contract with the state for a traffic safety program.

After a noon break, the commissioners will reconvene as the Board of Equalization at 1:30.

Prior to the regular meeting, which starts at 10 a.m., the commissioners will meet as the family services board at 9 a.m.

The Commissioners meet on the second floor of the Health and Human Services Building, located at 2200 23 St NE.
