Woman dies in Renville County crash
REDWOOD FALLS -- A Wisconsin woman was killed and four others were injured Wednesday on icy roads near Morton.
A two-vehicle accident happened at 7:30 p.m. on Highway 19 in Renville County.
According to the state patrol, Margaret Buckley, 60, of Eau Claire, Wis., died after the 2009 Toyota Camry she was driving spun out of control on snow-covered roads, crossed the center line and was then struck broadside by a truck.
Buckley was taken to the Redwood Falls Hospital, where she died.
The second vehicle, a 2002 GMC Sierra was driven by Jon Pettis, 39, of Redwood Falls.
Pettis, along with passengers, Bobbie Jo Parker, 35, Lynn Panitzke, 36, and Jessica Barnes, 33, all of Redwood Falls, were taken to the Redwood Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Crash near Maynardinjures four
MAYNARD -- Icy roads may be to blame for a two-vehicle accident that happened Wednesday night near Maynard that injured four people, including an infant.
According to the state patrol, Seth Pasco, 22, of Brookings, S.D. was going north on state Highway 23 when he lost control of the 1994 Toyota Camry he was driving.
His Camry collided with a 1993 Chevrolet sport van driven by Cory Dandurland, 29, of Ivanhoe, who was going south on Highway 23.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries.
Dandurland's one-year old daughter, Mia, was taken to the Granite Falls Hospital and treated for unknown injuries. Another passenger in the van, Amanda Callahan, 23, of Pillager, had minor injuries.
The accident was reported at 8:12 p.m. Road conditions were icy at the time, according to the state patrol.
State patrol was busy on Christmas Eve
WILLMAR -- The Minnesota State Patrol was busy on Christmas Even responding to more than 100 incidents, including one fatality, as holiday drivers encountered slippery, snow-covered roads.
Troopers in the St. Cloud district, which includes Kandiyohi County, responded to about 100 vehicles that had gone off the road, 30 property damage accidents and three personal injury accidents.
Barbara Schallock, 44, of Montevideo, was injured when her 1998 Chevrolet Lumina collided with a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Islow Yaser, 37, of Hutchinson. The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday on Highway 7 in McLeod County when Yaser was attempting to turn west onto Highway 7 and was struck broadside.
The road was icy at the time, according to the state patrol.
Both drivers were taken to the Hutchinson hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The patrol also reported that a 34-year old Fergus Falls man was killed, and his wife and three children injured in a two-vehicle crash in Becker County on Christmas Eve.
Robert Krensing was a passenger in the vehicle driven by his 34-year old wife, Keli.
Their car was struck head-on by a van, driven by Donald Larson, 67, of Detroit Lakes, that had crossed the center line on a curve.
Larson, Keli Krensing, Allison Krensing, 11, Kaitlyn Krensing, 7 and Myia Krensign, 3, were all treated at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes for minor injuries.
Barn a total loss in Stearns County fire
MELROSE -- Stearns County Sheriff's deputies and the Lake Henry Fire Department responded at about noon Friday to the report of a barn fire about six miles south of Melrose on state Highway 4.
The barn, at the home of Thomas and Lorrene Meyer, was a total loss, according to a release from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. Fire departments from Melrose, St. Martin and Elrosa assisted in fighting the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
