Eden Prairie man faces burglary charges in connection to domestic incident in Spicer

WILLMAR -- A 34-year-old Eden Prairie man faces two first-degree burglary charges, plus four misdemeanor counts, for allegedly entering a woman's home and assaulting her Tuesday in Spicer.

Unconditional bail was set at $20,000 for Troy Darnell Elmore. Conditional bail was allowed on his personal recognizance. Elmore also faces misdemeanor charges of domestic assault, fifth-degree assault, property damage and trespassing. His next appearance in Kandiyohi County District Court is scheduled for April 26.

According to the complaint, a Kandiyohi County Sheriff's deputy was called around 9 p.m. Tuesday to a home in Spicer.

A woman there reported that Elmore, whom she identified as her ex-boy-friend and the father of her two children, had come from Eden Pr-airie to Spicer after she told him she was dating another man.

The new boyfriend was also at the home when officers arrived. She said she and Elmore began arguing in the front yard after he tried to enter the home to retrieve items he thought belonged to him.

She went inside and attempted to close the door, but Elmore entered the property.

She said Elmore took a swing at her, striking her in the chin.

Another man, who had accompanied Elmore to the property, attempted to remove him from the home after Elmore broke a window on a door and cut himself.

Officers went to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, where Elmore sought treatment, and interviewed him there. He allegedly told them he "just lost control" when the alleged victim said she was dating someone else. He denied striking the woman, and said he didn't break the window on purpose and the he just wanted to get into the home to retrieve his belongings.
