District Court

Kandiyohi County

- Jonathan James Voorhees Thran, 21, of Annandale, pleaded guilty Wednesday to an amended misdemeanor charge of issuing a dishonored check for writing a check for sporting goods on a closed checking account.

As part of a plea agreement, the charge was reduced from a felony. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 60 days stayed and credit for 30 days already served, a $450 fine and one year of probation. He was also ordered to pay $522.56 in restitution and make a reasonable effort to get his GED.

The charge was filed after a Kandiyohi County sheriff's detective was called on Aug. 20 to Spicer Sports and Marine to take a report of a dishonored check. Employees there reported that the business had received a check on July 21 for $522.56 from Thran for three water tubes and three ropes. The check was returned to the business as written on a closed account. The employee who received the check identified Thran from a photo lineup.
