WILLMAR -- A fight between two men that had attracted onlookers broke up as police responded to a report of it at 10:09 p.m. Thursday on the 900 block of Third Street Southeast in Willmar. Parties involved were intoxicated.
KANDIYOHI -- A 51-year-old male was warned that he would be charged for trespassing after officers responded to a report that he had been squatting in a vacant house and garage in Kandiyohi.
Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputies found the man in a truck at the site at 9:40 p.m. on Thursday. He said he had come to collect personal property stored there. He had been warned previously by deputies not to return to the site.
Stolen bike recovered
WILLMAR -- A stolen Schwinn Sierra 700 series bicycle was recovered and the alleged thief charged after the bicycle's owner spotted it and the suspect at 4:33 p.m. Thursday on the 600 block of Second Street Southeast in Willmar. An 18-year-old man was charged.
WILLMAR -- A tenant who was evicted from an apartment is a suspect in the theft of a window air conditioner from the Willow Run II apartments. The theft was reported Thursday afternoon to Willmar police.
Former Monte man dies in S.D. accident
RAPID CITY, S.D. -- A former Montevideo resident, Steven R. Macziewski, died early Thursday morning in a one-vehicle rollover five miles south of Lead on U.S. Highway 85, according to the Rapid City Journal.
Macziewski, 55, of Newcastle, Wyo.., died when the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup he was driving crossed the center line into the northbound lane on a curve. The pickup slid into the ditch and rolled down an embankment where it struck a tree.
Macziewski was thrown from the vehicle when it rolled, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
The accident was reported at 7:40 a.m. Thursday.
Services for Macziewski will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo.
- Richard Michael Carl Houske, 22, of Willmar made his first appearance in court Thursday on a felony charge of fifth-degree drug sale.
Houske was released on his personal recognizance and ordered to follow a set of conditions, including staying in contact with probation and not using or possessing alcohol or drugs.
Houske is accused of selling one-quarter ounce of marijuana to a confidential informant who then delivered a bag containing a green leafy substance to CEE-VI drug enforcement agents. The drug sale is alleged to have happened at Houske's Willmar home in March.
His next court appearance was scheduled for Sept. 13.
