N.D. man accused of raping ex-wife in Crookston

Authorities say a man entered his ex-wife's home in Crookston, woke her up and then raped her.

Peter Dusek, 52, of Grand Forks, is charged with burglary and first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

A criminal complaint says Dusek's ex-wife told a deputy on March 27 that her ex-husband had raped her the night before.

She told the deputy she was sleeping and woke up with Dusek on top of her. For about 15 minutes, she fought off Dusek, who had been drinking beer, but he eventually raped her, the complaint states.

In an interview with an investigator, Dusek admitted to raping his ex-wife, the complaint says.

Dusek's ex-wife reported that Dusek did not have permission to enter her home, which was unlocked. She told authorities she and Dusek had been divorced for two years.

Dusek's attorney, Joel Arnason, said Dusek has pleaded not guilty to the charges but is considering a plea deal in which he would have to serve a 12-year sentence -- eight of those years he would spend behind bars if he stays out of trouble in prison.

"I think he's kind of resigned himself to the fact that he might have some downtime here," Arnason said.

Dusek, who's being held at the Crookston jail, is set for a pretrial hearing Aug. 30.
