Willmar man faces charge for providing meth for drug deal

WILLMAR -- Christopher Ruiz, 24, of Willmar, made his first court appearance Wednesday on a first-degree drug sale charge for allegedly providing methamphetamine sold to a CEE-VI Drug Task Force infor-mant. Un-conditional bail was set at $100,000 with conditional bail allowed for $60,000. His next appearance in Kandiyohi County District Court is Sept. 13.

Ruiz is the second man charged in connection to the Dec. 22 sale. Jeffery Sydney Summerlet, 41, of Raymond, also faces a first-degree sale count.

According to the complaint, the informant met Summerlet at his Raymond residence Dec. 22 and traveled with him to Willmar. They went to a car wash, where they met a man who supplied Summerlet with 10.7 grams of meth. Summerlet and the informant later identified the man as Ruiz.

The informant gave Summerlet half a gram of meth for setting up the deal. The remaining drugs were later handed over to the CEE-VI agent. Summerlet allegedly admitted to making the sale.
