Willmar man faces fifth charge of molesting children at home daycare

WILLMAR -- A Willmar man accused of molesting young girls at a rural Willmar daycare now faces a fifth felony charge of criminal sexual conduct.

Larry Alan Stoeser, 60, of Willmar has already been in court this fall on four felony charges of criminal sexual conduct at the daycare his wife ran in their home.

He made his first appearance on the new charge in Kandiyohi Cou-nty District Court on Tuesday.

Judge Donald Spilseth set bail at $200,000 cash or bond for unconditional release and $25,000 cash or bond for conditional release.

Spilseth also ordered the five cases to be consolidated in future court proceedings.

The latest charges involve a 6-year-old girl who told a caregiver that Stoeser had touched her during nap time at the daycare. Her story was similar to those reported by four other girls.

According to the criminal complaint filed against him, the girl asked a caregiver why she could not visit Stoeser's wife and was told she could not visit because Stoeser was in trouble for touching a child.

"Why don't you ask me what happened," the girl is reported to have said. She told the caregiver that Stoeser had touched her, too, and the caregiver then contacted authorities.

The girl was interviewed later by Kandiyohi County investigators. She allegedly told them that Stoeser touched her on her "private parts" through her clothing. The girl said it happened during nap time, but she was awake.

Stoeser was first charged on Sept. 1 with inappropriately touching a 5-year-old girl at the daycare.

He was charged with three more counts in late September. Those charges involved alleged victims that are now ages 15, 14 and 5. All told Family Services and Sheriff's Office investigators that they had been touched inappropriately while at the daycare.

The daycare license at the home Stoeser shared with his wife is listed as being under "immediate temporary suspension," according to the state Department of Human Services website.
