Kandiyohi County

- Emilio Ozornia, 26, of Willmar, was sentenced to five years and one month in prison on two third-degree drug sale charges for selling 17.5 grams of methamphetamine to a CEE-VI Drug Task Force informant in January.

Ozornia pleaded guilty to the charges in September. A first-degree drug sale charge was dismissed.

Ozornia was sentenced Tuesday. Judge Michael Thompson gave him credit for 230 days already served in jail. He also ordered a $1,000 fine plus court costs.

The charges were filed after a CEE-VI informant purchased the drugs from him on Jan. 7, 15 and 26 at his home in Willmar. The informant indentified Ozornia using his driver's license photo as the man who sold him the meth.

- Zachary Michael Ruis, 20, of Pennock, made his first court appearance Wednesday on a felony charge of terroristic threats and misdemeanor charges of fifth-degree assault and domestic assault.

Judge Donald Spilseth ordered him released on his own recognizance and to have no contact with the victim or her family. He was also ordered to abstain from alcohol and to have no firearms or other weapons in his possession.

Ruis's ex-girlfriend contacted authorities Nov. 13 because she was concerned he was suicidal over their breakup. He allegedly threatened to kill her and then himself. According to the court file, she told authorities she was afraid he might hurt her but was more concerned he would hurt himself.

When authorities located Ruis later, they told him he needed to go to crisis, detox or jail. Ruis allegedly fought with deputies and was arrested. He was put on suicide watch at the jail and later released.
