Willmar native named U.S. Rep. Paulsen's communications director

Willmar native Tom Erickson is U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen's new communications director.

Erickson, who has worked for Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, is leaving a job as National Republican Congressional Committee press secretary. His twin brother, Nick, works for the Minnesota Republican Party.

"I am very excited to have an experienced communicator like Tom join our team," Paulsen said. "As someone who has worked with media in Minnesota and D.C., Tom will certainly be an asset as we continue to protect Minnesota's important medical technology industry, fight for the small business owners that power our economy and strive to create a more efficient and effective government."

Erickson will be based in Eden Prairie.

Paulson, a Republican, serves part of the western Twin Cities.
