Ethanol from beets topic at March 21 ProAg meeting in Olivia
OLIVIA -- Maynard Helgas, with the Green Vision Group, a Fargo, N.D., consortium that is exploring the economics of producing ethanol from sugar beets, is the guest speaker at the March 21 annual meeting of ProAg of Renville County.
With the ongoing demand for more renewable energy alternatives beyond corn, the Green Vision Group sees the sugar beet as a possible feedstock.
Minnesota Agricultural Commissioner Dave Frederickson has been invited to make his first Renville County appearance since being appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton.
The event starts at 6 p.m. with dinner and a social at Max's Grill, Olivia. Cost is $20 for non-ProAg members. Reservations are encouraged. Contact Greg Riley, ProAg treasurer, at 507-829-5634 or email@example.com.
