Thunderstorm warning issued for parts of Chippewa, Renville, Redwood and Kandiyohi counties until 6 p.m.
The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southeastern Chippewa County, southern Kandiyohi County, northeastern Redwood County, Renville County and northwestern Sibley County in central and west central Minnesota until 6 p.m.
At 4:50 p.m, trained spotters reported a line of severe thunderstorms with quarter-size hail and destructive winds in excess of 75 mph. These storms were located along a line extending from Minnesota Falls to Bechyn to Clements and moving northeast at 55 mph.
Locations in the warning include Redwood Falls, Olivia, North Redwood, Sacred Heart, Minnesota Falls, Renville, Bechyn, Danube, Morton, Prinsburg, Franklin, Bird Island, Blomkest and Svea.
Precautionary/preparedness actions are recommended as this is a this is a dangerous situation. If you are in the path of this storm, oprepare immediately for destructive winds which can uproot trees, down power lines and cause damage to roofs and windows.
Seek shelter now inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.
