RAYMOND -- Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog said Anthony Vaneps, 66, of Willmar was injured when the truck he was driving was struck Wednesday morning by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train near Raymond.

Hartog said the Sheriff's Office received a call at 10:35 a.m. of a truck-train crash on a private driveway crossing on the east edge of Raymond. Vaneps was ejected from the truck when it was struck by the train.

Vaneps was transported by Raymond Ambulance to Rice Hospital in Willmar and was then airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Vaneps was driving a 1973 International tandem-wheeled truck northbound on a private driveway when it was struck by the westbound BNSF train traveling at approximately 40 mph.

The sheriff's office, Raymond Ambulance, Raymond Fire Department and Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad responded to the scene. The sheriff's office is investigating the crash.
