Public hearing is tonight on Eagle Lake road project by Willmar

WILLMAR - A public hearing on a proposed project to relocate or reconstruct a section of Kandiyohi County Road 9 by Eagle Lake, north of Willmar, begins at 7 p.m. tonight in the Health and Human Services Building.

The meeting will take place in the community room in the lower level of the building.

An open house to view and ask questions about the different reconstruction options begins at 4:30 p.m. at the same location.

The Kandiyohi County Public Works Department is proposing to move a section of the Eagle Lake road away from the densely populated lake area to a new location further east that would cut across farm fields. Another option includes rebuilding the road where it is.

All the proposals cost about $4 million.

Testimony taken tonight on the pros and cons of the different plans for realigning or reconstructing the road will help the Kandiyohi County Commissioners make a final decision on which proposal to pursue.

People testifying tonight will have an allotted time to speak during the hearing.

Those not able to attend can provide written comments by 2 p.m. today to: Gary D. Danielson, Kandiyohi County, Public Works Director, 1801 E Highway 12, Willmar, MN 56201; Email:
