Registration ends today for rain garden workshop in Spicer, Minn.

SPICER -- The Middle Fork Crow River Watershed District will be hosting a rain garden workshop at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center, rural Spicer.

Participants will learn about storm water and its impacts and how rain gardens can help mitigate the impacts and improve water quality in local lakes and streams. Rain gardens are shallow depressions in the landscape that collect storm water from impervious surfaces. They filter pollutants, reduce flooding downstream, and help recharge groundwater aquifers.

The fee is $5 per person and the registration deadline is today. Call the watershed district at 320-796-0888 or email Sara Jacobson at
